Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. Football is known for its use of feet to control and advance the ball, although players can use any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception).

The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. Matches typically last 90 minutes, divided into two 45-minute halves, with a 15-minute halftime interval. Football is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with a massive following and influence on global culture. Key tournaments include the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and various domestic leagues. Football’s widespread popularity is bolstered by its accessibility, often played in informal settings in addition to organized competitions.
