Europa League

The Europa League is an annual club football (soccer) competition organized by UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations) for European football clubs. It is considered the second-tier tournament in European club football, below the UEFA Champions League. The competition features teams from across Europe that qualify based on their performance in their respective national leagues and cup competitions.

First established in 1971 as the UEFA Cup, it was rebranded to the UEFA Europa League in the 2009–10 season. The tournament consists of a group stage followed by knockout rounds, culminating in a final match to determine the champion. The winner of the Europa League is awarded a trophy and earns a place in the following season’s UEFA Champions League, as well as a spot in the UEFA Super Cup. The competition is known for showcasing a variety of playing styles and has a rich history, featuring clubs from both established football nations and those less traditionally dominant in the sport.
