Syrian Military

The Syrian Military refers to the armed forces of the Syrian Arab Republic, which include the Syrian Arab Army, the Syrian Air Force, and additional branches such as the Navy and various paramilitary groups. Established in the mid-20th century, it is primarily tasked with defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, maintaining internal order, and supporting the regime of the Syrian government.

The Syrian Military has been a prominent actor in the ongoing Syrian Civil War, which began in 2011, participating in various conflicts against opposition groups and other factions. The military is known for its heavy reliance on ground forces and artillery, as well as air support in its operations. The leadership of the military is closely aligned with the ruling Ba’ath Party, and it has been involved in both conventional warfare and counterinsurgency operations.

Throughout its history, the Syrian Military has also been engaged in conflicts beyond its borders, including in Lebanon and against Israel. The organization has been characterized by its significant influence within the Syrian political landscape and its role in the regime’s efforts to maintain control over the country amidst internal and external challenges.
